It is not necessary to dream about castles - even a summer house can make dreams of a family nest come true.
"A large bright space with high ceilings and a wonderful homely atmosphere - the decision was made instantly," - recalls Helle Högsbro, a designer from Denmark.
Friends made a summer house on the coast north of Copenhagen Helle and her husband Jonas Kragu. Prior to this, a couple with a two-year-old son spent the summer months with friends and relatives, dreaming of their own little paradise in nature, away from the bustle of the city.
Jonas is a musician and producer, Helle owns a store in Copenhagen and sells clothes for children, fabrics, toys and accessories. In the first year, they practically did not change anything in the house. The atmosphere was modest, but very comfortable. However, in winter, mice worked at home: they gnawed pillows, curtains, carpets. It is time to make repairs. The roof, facade, bathroom needed updating. Inside, everything was supposed to maintain home comfort, but to acquire your own style! I wanted the children to be able to mess around on the couch even with their hands stained with jam.
Graceful items from flea markets shape the interior design: a lilac tablecloth for five euros, old drugstores and lamps from the French bistro decorated the bathroom, the shower curtain turned into blinds in the living room. Jonas also seeks out landscapes and family portraits - for him this is the best wall decor.Jonas re-upholstered the sofa and deck chair, which the family lovingly dubbed the “grandmother's corner”, with fabrics from Paris, and then added embroidered pillows and dyed sheepskin.
But most of all, the family loves spending time on the veranda with lilac clematis, sitting in a blue rocking chair or on a French canapes.
"Having breakfast, lunch and dinner together in the fresh air, barefoot, in the shadow of clematis - here it is, happiness!" - concludes Helle Hogsbro.
