When buying the next issue of the magazine, we don’t think about how much work was done before it hit the counter. We decided to show how the magazine Burda Moden is created.
Sketching
Designers are beginning to work on the new collection in advance. They closely monitor fashion trends, not missing a single show on the catwalks of fashion capitals - in Paris, London, New York and Milan. Fashion designers embody the most interesting ideas in Burda models so that readers of the magazine can sew beautiful and stylish outfits for themselves.
Among the many sketches, experts choose only the most interesting - models will be created according to them. Burda magazines are sold in more than 30 countries, and designers are trying to ensure that every woman can find something suitable for herself.
Fabric selection
After all the sketches are approved, the designers proceed with the selection of materials. BurdaStyle has a special room with fabrics - this is the heart of the creative department. The choice of fabric is not an easy process: color, pattern and texture should not only ideally fit the sketch, but also comply with all fashion trends.
Finishing materials and accessories are selected for the fabric: buttons, zippers or buttons - everything should fit perfectly!
Construction
The next stage is the creation of the design of each product.
Sewing an experimental sample
Before stitching a model from a beautiful material, a sample from a mock fabric is first sewn so that you can make the necessary changes and adjust the fit.And only after that they sew a product from the main fabric.
Fitting
After all the basic operations are done, the last fitting is carried out: the length and width of the product are finally specified.
Propagation of patterns
Based on the patterns of the experimental model, the entire size range of the product is created.
This process is called "pattern propagation."
Creating a pattern sheet
Next, a sheet of patterns is created for the entire model range.
Description of models
Meanwhile, the sewn-in model is handed over to the editorial office, where a text description and instructions are compiled.
For each instruction, technical drawings of the model are created.
Photography
The next step is photographing. And you need to properly prepare for it.Choose shoes and accessories ...
... make up and hairstyle the model.
Finally, the model is photographed in the photo studio of the Publishing House.
During photography, many pictures are taken so that you can choose the best frames for the magazine.
The photo editor selects photos, after which the designer proceeds to typesetting the magazine. As soon as the layout is ready, it will be sent to print, and soon it will appear on the shelves of shops and magazine stalls, so that at any time of the year you can sew fashionable and beautiful outfits for yourself and always look amazing.
The editor-in-chief of the German magazine Burda Dagmar Bili tells about the process of creating collections for new issues. And in the article “Enne Burda: A Success Story” you can read about the life of this legendary woman and the story of the creation of the most beloved women's magazine.
