The advantage of manual things is that when they get bored, they can be tied to another product. But before you knit a new thing from loose threads, they must be "prepared".

Dissolve the old product by winding the threads into balls. From these balls, wind big loose skeins. Skeins - This is such a skein of thread, which can be obtained by wrapping yarn on the back of a chair. Remove the threads from the back of the chair and not very tightly tie them in two places with a contrasting thread. Before using a contrasting thread, make sure that it does not fade or spoil the color of skeins.
Then these skeins are necessary wash. It is possible in the washing machine in the gentle mode for hand or delicate washing using a detergent corresponding to the composition of the threads. For cotton and linen threads, ordinary powder is suitable, it is better to use modern phosphate-free washing powders, for example Ariel. For wool threads, a special detergent for wool is required. Be sure to use a good conditioner such as Lenor. The conditioner will give the threads softness, silkiness and fluffy fibers.
The spin mode during washing in the machine is better to choose at minimum speed. After washing the skeins of thread, gently hang todrying. They can dry up to several days, depending on the composition of the threads and the volume of skeins wound. From time to time, lightly twist the threads so that they dry well inside the skein.

Wind up fully dried yarn in balls. Now you can knit a new product.
If the threads after such processing are not perfectly aligned, soak the knitted product for a while in slightly warm water with conditioner, then gently wring it and place it on a towel on a flat surface. Let the product dry completely. Threads and a new thing will fully come in good condition.

To straighten the yarn in the washed skeins, it is better to hang it weights. This can be done with bag hooks. Since the yarn dries faster on top of the skein, you can periodically turn it over, outweighing the weights.
There is another way to straighten the yarn, known since ancient times. It is necessary to pour water in the kettle so that it does not reach the nozzle. We put the teapot on the stove, behind it we put a saucepan with skeins of yarn, we pass the tip of the yarn under the lid of the teapot and put it through the spout. Let the water boil and begin to pull the thread through the spout and wind it into a ball. The thread straightens and fluffs.
But this way you can only process yarn made from natural fibers. Acrylic does not like high temperatures.
