What to sew for a holiday at sea?

Everyone has their own list of things that you can’t do without during your vacation. But, nevertheless, collecting our suitcase, we almost always ask ourselves a question - what to bring with us this time?

Today, I, Julia Dekanova, editor of the website BurdaStyle.ru, will share my experience in making a wardrobe.
Of course, swimwear, T-shirts, shorts are not discussed, they are always the first to get into my suitcase. But with other things, there is a stupor. Conducting an instant audit and urgently sewing something for a couple of hours on the day of departure is not my option. It is better to prepare in advance, especially since there are often and many vacations.
Resting this June in sunny Greece, I realized that my vacation wardrobe needs to be thoroughly developed and compiled a list of the most necessary, in my opinion, things from what I already have and what is sorely lacking.

Tunic

The model should be free, not restrict movements, with a minimum of details and sewn from light fabrics, such as silk chiffon, silk or cotton cambric, cotton gauze or fine knitwear.

• A-line tunic made of cotton gauze. Convenient, beautiful, comfortable.
• Raglan sleeved tunic
• Straight cut mini dress

Beach dress

Allows you to appear in a coastal bar without violating the rules of decency. In addition, open and sexy models will attract the curious gaze of others to an even tan and a slim figure.

• Dress with an open back. My favorite. It is sewn very easily and quickly. And wearing it is a pleasure.
• Wide dress in a romantic style of delicate lace

Shorts

I have enough of them. Two jeans, one of which is from the series a new “remake”, knitted and strapless jumpsuit with short shorts. But here are the most needed - white - no.

Pants

Loose with a low waist on the drawstring, in a jeans style, straight, narrowed 7/8 length, flared trousers or gauze, but always white. I always had them before. And then somehow abruptly all the models ended. Jeans - jeans, and such pants should be. The choice of fabric depends on the model - it can be linen, silk or cotton.

Dresses

I thought that I had no problems with this. I like to sew sundresses and dresses, and I wear them with pleasure at different times of the year. But the scorching sun and the cool evening wind made their own corrections and unanimously said what I was missing: a floor-length sundress on thin straps and a silk maxi dress with long sleeves.
Probably, natural phenomena are at the same time with us, and they know that there are not many dresses. But so as not to overdo the suitcase, sew summer dresses from weightless chiffon, delicate silk, the finest cambric and muslin.

Cardigan

Just in case, everyone always takes something warm with them on their next trip. I usually have jeans, a pullover with a long sleeve and a linen jacket. But, it turned out, there is a better option - a cardigan without a fastener made of the finest, as a spider's web, woolen knitwear. Moreover, there are plenty of stunning patterns in Burda, which will make an excellent company for trousers, and shorts, and dresses.Just imagine these models in a slightly different version, with other accessories, in a different fabric.

• Soft long jacket
• Volumetric cardigan with a shawl collar
• Pattern coat with draping shelves. This is the model I have chosen for myself.

It's nice to wrap yourself in such a thing if suddenly a cool breeze touches your shoulders, dispersing goosebumps on your body. You will quickly warm up, and you can safely continue a walk along the seashore, enjoying the sunset, or enjoy sitting in an open-air restaurant.
