A method for embroidering flowers with voluminous petals.

In this way, you can embroider voluminous flowers, in which each petal will lie separately above the surface of the fabric. You can also use it, for example, to embroider the volumetric ears of some little animal. Petals can be made both large and smaller. Threads are better to take thin, voluminous. However, if you want to make very small elegant petals, you can try to work with thin threads.

Step 1

We hoop the fabric. We put the thread into the needle, make a knot, leave it on the wrong side, and remove the needle where the lower edge of the petal is.

Take the tailor's pin. With its help, we will form a support for weaving the petal and set its length. Insert the pin so that the head remains on the front side, and the pin itself enters the fabric where there will be a sharp tip of the petal. From the inside, bring the tip to the front side where the middle of the wide end of the petal is planned. Then hide the sharp end of the pin, leading it to the wrong side.

Turn the thread behind the pin head and pull it down.

Stick the needle with the thread where the second edge of the wide part of the petal is planned. The pin will be in the middle. Pull the thread from the wrong side close to the pin.

Thread the pin again. The basis for weaving the petal is ready.

Step 2

We begin to weave a petal. Pass the end of the needle, prying the threads through one (we have 3 threads in total).

Pull the thread. The tip of the petal will be narrow, so on the first row of weaving, the thread must be pulled harder.

We start the second row of weaving from the side where we finished the first. Pull the threads in a checkerboard pattern relative to the first row, as with weaving. Tighten the thread in the second row less than in the first row.

Repeat in the same order further. Seal the layers of thread with a needle. Until you get to the middle, you can make the petal wider, loosening the thread tension. After the middle, you can begin to narrow the petal, again tightening the thread harder.

Step 3

Having reached the end of the petal, bring the thread inside out and remove the pin. Now you can start a new petal.

If you arrange these petals in a circle, you get a voluminous flower.

Done.
