Our heroine decided not to buy ready-made clothes as a 6-month experiment, but it turned out that this experiment has been going on for 10 years - and she does not plan to finish it.

About the page author

“I am Caroline. I live in Western Australia. And I like to do things ... Many things - I create all my clothes myself. Sometimes I make clothes for unsuspecting members of my family, but not too often,” writes our heroine. "A bit of history: I sewed something for myself from the age of 12. When the children appeared, I began to sew for them. It was fun, because they are so cute and funny, you know. Then the children grew up, and I returned to creating clothes for yourself. Then the idea came to document the process by taking photos. " Caroline says that she collected these photos in order to arrange in the album, which her sister-in-law wanted to give her. But in the end, the daughter-in-law gave something else, and the photo, along with short stories about how it was sewn, moved to the blog.

In the network Caroline found ideas and communication with like-minded people. And in 2009, she went to the Wack Refashion website. The local community advocated environmental friendliness and organized peculiar marathons. Their idea was to make a commitment for a certain period not to buy new ready-made clothes. You could either sew it yourself, or remake the existing one, or buy something in a second-hand. The experiment could last 3, 6, 9 months, a year or a lifetime. “At first I tried 3 months,” Caroline recalls. “I liked it, and I decided for 6 months. And when they ended, I exhaled and decided on a lifetime experiment! That site has not been updated for a long time, but I keep the promise and since then I’ve not bought a single finished new thing. I think it shows how stubborn and purposeful a person I can be ... "

Caroline participated in other experiments. For example, once a year she decided to wear absolutely all the clothes of her own work, from coats and dresses to underwear and socks. In the project "6 images" she invented, she photographed sewn things in 6 different combinations with different clothes (scroll down the Caroline page and find these photos). Then she began to learn to make shoes herself, and now creates some pairs for herself. And that’s not all ... "Yes, I’m so strange! I just can’t help myself," she says.

What is this page about

In Caroline’s Instagram account, most of the photos are things that she sewed, knitted or made herself. In general, this page is very atmospheric: there are inspirational landscapes, flowers, and still lifes. But these photos are more likely a background, the main thing is clothes. Among the models that Caroline selects and sews, there are simple basic, and quite unusual (especially - in cut and shape) things. Both of them look harmonious on our heroine: it is felt that, and years of work on her wardrobe, she managed to find her own style.
