This thing is a symbiosis of a cardigan without buttons and a large scarf or cape, which is convenient and cozy to wrap.

The most difficult part in the process of manufacturing this cardigan-cocoon is the processing of the edge of the knitwear if you sew a thing from a finished knitted fabric. Details on this - in step 2.

An option for those who knit is to knit a fabric of the desired size on knitting needles or crochet and then act as described in step 3 of the master class.

Cardigan is suitable for different sizes:

How to work with knitwear

You will need:

- knitted fabric;

- a suitable size hook or knitting needle for processing the edges of the canvas (depending on which processing method you choose, see step 2);

- a large needle for knitwear;

- contrasting thick threads;

- scissors;

- clamps;

- ruler;

- a sewing machine and threads matching the color of the knitwear.

The idea of using buttons, “fangs”: 3 options for wraps on the clasp

Step 1

For a cardigan, you need one part 100x75 cm in size. To evenly cut a knitted fabric, you can use a life hack: use a large needle with a contrasting thread to outline the cut line, taking one of the knit strings as a basis, and cut along the next row of fabric (see photo). When laying the thread and cutting the canvas, leave small allowances along the lines of the part perpendicular to the direction of the thread (these are the short sides of the rectangle).

Step 2

After cutting the part, process its edges.

First, about those edges that go parallel to the direction of the thread of the knitted fabric (these are the long sides of the rectangle). To get a beautiful, accurate result, you can use the methods for processing the edges of the knitted fabric described here and here (see step 7, about processing the bottom of the sleeves).

Another option: one at a time, release the knit loops from the thread trimmer and pull the next loop through the previous one. The success of this method depends on the friability of the knitted fabric, such a closure can slightly tighten the edge.

Now, about the processing of edges perpendicular to the direction of the thread in the fabric.

Find the thread that marks the lines of the short sides of the part. Pull back 1-2 rows (depending on the thickness of the fabric and loose knitting, the distance is marked with a needle in the photo) and lay the line on the machine. Then cut the knitwear next to the stitch: the stitch will hold the threads and the fabric will not open. Turn the hem inside out and sew. Remove the contrasting thread.

Step 3

Fold the cardigan detail in half, facing inward. Sew the edges 15 cm. It should look like this:
